Paver Brick, Quarry Tile,And Ceramic Tile Floors

When you demand the best in paver brick, quarry tile, and ceramic tile floor care, Hillyard Seal 341® is your answer. Seal 341 is a clear, fast drying seal/finish that delivers an attractive appearance that enhances the natural color of the floor and protects it from dirt, spills, and abrasions. For porous floors, there is Terrazzine®. Its clear, fast drying formula is ideal for sealing porous paver and quarry tile floors. For added stain resistance Strong Guard® is the perfect sealer. All three products deliver a cost-effective hard floor maintenance program...beautifully.

Procedures For Non-Glazed Paver, Quarry Tile, And Ceramic Tile Floors

1) Set out Wet Floor signs and remove obstructions from the area to be cleaned.
2) New or old non-glazed paver, quarry, and ceramic tile floors that have not been previously coated should be thoroughly scrubbed before coating with a 16 ounce per gallon solution of Renovator® or a 1:4 solution of Strip-All®. Scrub floors with a heavy buildup of polish coats using Assault® or Devastator® mixed 1:1.
3) Apply the stripping solution over the first 10' by 15' section to be scrubbed. Scrub using an abrasive scrub brush and scrub in a back-and-forth motion making sure to clean grout joints and low spots. Use a doodle bug to clean along the edges.
4) Immediately pick up the soiled scrub solution with a wet vacuum or automatic scrubber. Follow with a flood rinse using a 4 ounce per gallon solution of Nutra-Rinse® . Pick up the flood rinse with a wet vacuum or automatic scrubber and follow with two clean water damp mop rinses. Repeat the process until the entire floor is clean.
6) Allow the floor to dry and inspect it to be sure all old coatings and the stripping solution have been removed. Test for residue by wiping your hand across the floor.
7) Non-glazed floors should be coated with 2 to 3 coats of Seal 341 allowing sufficient dry time between coats. Seal porous floors, such as Mexican Saltilla tile, with 1 to 2 coats of Terrazzine followed by 2 to 3 top coats of Seal 341.
8) Maintain by dust mopping at least once daily with a dust mop pretreated with either Super Hil-Tone® or Hil-Mist®. Damp mop or auto scrub the floor as needed using Assurance®, Super Shine-All®, or Top Clean®.

Procedures For Glazed Quarry And Ceramic Tile Floors

1) Scrub using Renovator, Citrus-Scrub®, or Extra Strength CSP (for shower or restrooms).
2) Spread either CSP or the proper dilution of cleaner over the floor and scrub with a single brush floor machine equipped with an abrasive scrub brush.
3) Rinse the floor according to label directions. Maintain glazed floors with Super Shine-All. Do not coat glazed surfaces.

Terrazzo Floors

For generations, Hillyard has been providing the leading products for protecting and maintaining terrazzo floors: Onex-Seal® II is a buffable, non-flaking, slip-resistant finish that protects terrazzo floors from dirt and stains while enhancing the natural beauty of the floor. Seal 341® delivers high speed protection, applies easily, and dries quickly to form a clear barrier of protection. Where added stain resistance is needed, Strong Guard® is the seal of choice.

Procedures For New, Uncoated Terrazzo Floors

1) Set out Wet Floor signs and remove obstructions.
2) Scrub with either a 3 ounce per gallon solution of Super Shine-All® or 4 ounce per gallon solution of Citrus-Scrub®. Begin by applying a heavy layer of the cleaning solution over a 10' by 15' area.
3) Scrub using red pad(s) under a single brush floor machine or auto scrubber. Pick up the soiled scrubbing solution with a wet vacuum or auto scrubber.
4) Flood rinse the area with a 4 ounce per gallon solution of Nutra-Rinse®. Pick up the flood rinse with a wet vacuum or auto scrubber and follow with two clean damp mop rinses. Repeat the process until the entire floor is clean.
5) When the floor is dry, apply Seal 341 or Onex-Seal II following label directions. Floors coated with Seal 341 can be top coated with a quality Hillyard polish and maintained using a standard, high speed or ultra-high speed maintenance program (see the section on "Gloss Restoration"). Floors sealed with Onex-Seal II should be maintained and recoated according to label directions.

Procedures For Previously Coated Or Old Terrazzo Floors

1) Strip the floor using a 1:1 solution of Assault® or Devastator®. Begin by applying the stripping solution over a 10' by 15' area.
2) Scrub the area using black stripping pad(s) under a single brush floor machine or automatic scrubber until all dirt, seals, and polishes have been removed. Use a doodle bug to clean along edges.
3) Do not let the stripping solution dry on the floor. Pick up the solution as you strip with a wet vacuum or auto scrubber and flood rinse with a 4 ounce per gallon solution of Nutra-Rinse®. Pick up the flood rinse, follow with two clean damp mop rinses, and allow the floor to dry.
4) Seal with one or two coats of Seal 341. Extremely porous floors should be sealed with one to two coats of Terrazzine® and top coated with Seal 341. Seal 341 may also be top coated with a quality Hillyard polish and maintained using a standard, high speed or ultra-high speed program (see "Gloss Restoration").

Marble And Natural Stone Floors

Hillyard has made marble floor care simple and effective with three unique products: Lok-Gard®, Seal 341®, and Terrazzine®. Lok-Gard is the beautiful solution to keeping polished marble and natural stone floors looking their best, even in heavy traffic. For unpolished marble and natural stone floors, the combination of Terrazzine undercoater and Seal 341 will provide you with beautiful floors that are easily maintained.

Procedures For Polished Marble & Natural Stone Floors

1) Set out Wet Floor signs and remove obstructions.
2) Prepare floors for coating by scrubbing with a 16 ounce per gallon solution of Citrus-Scrub®. Apply the cleaning solution over a 10' by 15' area. Note: Do not use Hillyard Nutra-Rinse® on polished or honed marble flooring.
3) Scrub using red pad(s) under a single brush floor machine or automatic scrubber. Scrub floors with recessed grout joints using a bassine scrub brush(es). Pick up the scrubbing solution with a wet vacuum or automatic scrubber and follow with a clean water flood rinse. Pick up the flood rinse and damp mop rinse with a 1 oz. per gallon solution of Super Shine-All®.
4) When the floor is dry, apply one to four coats of Lok-Gard. If applying more than two coats, high speed burnish between the second, third, and fourth coats. Dust mop floors daily and damp mop or autoscrub with a solution of Super Shine-All or Top Clean® following label directions.
5) Lok-Gard may also be top coated with a quality Hillyard polish and maintained with high, ultra-high, or standard speed gloss restoration using Hil-Glo®, H.R. 2000®, or Hillyard Restorer (see "Gloss Restoration").

Procedures For: Unpolished Marble & Natural Stone Floors

1) Prepare unpolished floors for coating by scrubbing with a 16 ounce per gallon solution of Renovator®. Scrub using red pad(s) under a single brush floor machine or automatic scrubber. Previously sealed or coated floors may need to be stripped...consult with your Hillyard Consultant to determine the best products and procedures for your floor.
2) Apply the cleaning solution over a 10' by 15' area. Scrub floors with recessed grout joints using bassine scrub brushes in place of floor pads. Pick up the scrubbing solution with a wet vacuum or auto scrubber. Follow with a clean water flood rinse, pick it up, and finish with two damp mop rinses.
3) When the floor is dry, apply one or two coats of Seal 341 following label directions. Extremely porous floors should be sealed first with one to two coats of Terrazzine and top coated with Seal 341. Unpolished marble and natural stone floors coated with Seal 341 can be maintained using a standard, high speed, or ultra-high speed maintenance program (see "Gloss Restoration").

Gloss Restoration For Hard Floors

Gloss restoration will keep your hard floors looking their best and help extend the interval between recoats. For high and ultra-high speed restoration (1,000-3,000+ rpm floor machines), H.R. 2000® or Hillyard Restorer deliver maximum gloss and restore large areas quickly. These products resist powdering, soiling, scratching, and scuffing...plus they're zinc-free. Hil-Glo® works with both standard and high speed (175-1,500 rpm) floor machines. It enhances your spray buff program to deliver a durable gloss and outstanding appearance with minimum downtime. Check with your Hillyard consultant to determine the best restoration system for you.

Note: The key to effective gloss restoration on hard floors is to never use a restorer on a dirty floor. Always dust mop before restoring. On extremely dirty floors or where dirt has been trapped in grout joints, damp mop or auto scrub with a cleaning solution before restoring.

Procedures For High Or Ultra-High Speed Gloss Restoration Mopping Method

1) Make sure the floor is clean and mop on H.R. 2000 or Hillyard Restorer diluted 1 to 4 parts water to the area to be restored.
2) When dry, burnish with a Hillyard 100D neutral polythermal pad under an electric or battery powered burnisher. Use a beige polythermal pad with propane burnishers. Dust mop with a pretreated dust mop when finished.

Procedures For High Speed Restoration Spray Method

1) Spray a light mist of ready-to-use Hil-Glo through a pump-up sprayer or spray bottle to clean away scuffs and restore the shine to your hard floors. For 1,000-1,500 rpm machines, burnish using a beige pad.
2) Repeat this same process until the entire area has been polished to a high gloss. Change your pad when both sides are dirty to avoid buildup and drag. Immediately dust mop the floor with a pretreated dust mop after burnishing.

Procedures For Standard Speed Restoration Spray Buffing

1) Let newly coated floors cure a week before spray buffing and dust mop or damp mop the floor first. For spray buffing, use Hil-Glo full strength. Begin by placing a red pad under a single brush floor machine.
2) Lightly mist a small section of the floor with Hil-Glo and immediately buff the sprayed section in a back-and-forth motion. Make certain all black marks and scuffs are removed and traffic lanes have been blended into the surrounding area. After the entire floor has been spray buffed, dust mop the floor with a treated dust mop.
