N.S. Hillyard establishes the Hillyard Companies in St. Joseph, Mo. Still family-owned, 5th generation leadership, with over 800 employees and a nationwide presence we proudly call St. Joseph our headquarters.

N.S. Hillyard invents modern-day gym finish with the introduction of Diamond® Gym Finish.

Super Shine-All®, a natural-based cleaner is introduced. Ninety years later, it became Green Seal™ certified.

N.S. Hillyard is awarded U.S. Patents for a paper towel and tissue dispenser design and a soap dispenser design. The iconic "Checkerboard" logo, a symbol of unrelenting quality, is trademarked.

Hillyard constructs new manufacturing facilities. Construction includes the largest gymnasium west of the Mississippi, which Hillyard uses for product development and testing. The Hillyard Shine-All's basketball team won back-to-back National AAU Championships in 1925 and 1926. Special Gymnasium Finish is introduced.

The company marks its 25th anniversary with the introduction of Super Gymnasium Finish. N.S. Hillyard is awarded a U.S. Patent on an innovative dust mop design. Super Gymnasium Finish is introduced.

The decade of World War II sees the introduction of three new products: Renovator, Star® Gym Finish and Surga-Han hand soap.

The company marks its 50th anniversary with the introduction of Trophy® Gym Finish. A new world headquarters with offices, research and development, manufacturing and distribution is dedicated in St. Joseph, Mo.

Introduced Contender® Gym Finish, a water-based epoxy finish that offers unmatched durability and clarity. Acquired seven distribution companies and started Hillyard Sioux Falls.​​

Major St. Joseph expansion results in a headquarters campus totaling 7.5 acres with over 700,000 sq. ft. under roof. Acquired 12 distribution companies and started five more Hillyard distribution locations.​​

​​​​​Celebrated 100 Years of Innovation in 2007. Awarded a U.S. Utility Patent for the Cleaning Companion®, an innovative, battery-operated, touch-free cleaning system. Awarded a U.S. Design Patent for innovative dual-chamber chemical packaging. Introduced 1907® Gym Finish, an oil-modified urethane in a waterborne formulation​ that delivers exceptional coating results, certified by the USDA for its biobased content.​ Acquired four distribution companies.

Added an FDA-inspected manufacturing line to expand the Affinity Skin Care System, an all-in-one sealed dispensing system. Acquired RoVIC, a major east coast janitorial supply distributor. Introduced the Multi-Flo XP floor care application system. Became the official floor care maintenance product line of NCAA Basketball and introduced Recon Micro-layer Wood Sports Floor Coating. Launched the Trident Power Equipment line and quickly became a major source of cleaning equipment in the United States. Invested in the St. Joseph community, by turning a 25-acre abandoned industrial site into a modern manufacturing and warehousing operation.

Acquired House of Clean, Bozeman Montana. Icon® Gym Finish and Star® Seal are the first gym coatings ever certified by Green Seal. N.S. Hillyard recognized for his contributions to basketball and St. Joseph with the introduction of the N.S. Hillyard Court at the St. Joseph Civic Arena. The city of St. Joseph presents Hillyard with the ceremonial key to the city for unwavering community support.
